1790s inspired dress

A three piece outfit aiming for a period look, but as inspired by Giulia Tofana, a professional  with some twists.

The waistcoat is based on a 1920s front closing corset and has trapunto quilting ribcage detail.

The jacket is made from a printed tartan cotton with chaining detail at the  back.

The skirt is silk.

Each part is machine stitched and hand finished so that no machine stitching is visible on the surface.

Giulia Tofana-

an Italian professional poisoner. She became known as a friend to the troubled wife, famous for selling poison to women who wanted to murder their husbands and was the inventor of the famous poison 'Aqua Tofana'; A concoction of Arsenic, Belladonna, and Lead.
