What we wear is fascinating. Clothing and the accessories we choose say so much about who we are and our place in the world. Choices in costume design are something I have always enjoyed exploring and through my time at RWCMD I have had the opportunity to put this into the context of theatre, film and television. Within these disciplines even the tiniest detail, such as a cufflink or colour of undergarment, facilitates an unspoken understanding between the audience and a character. The puzzle of building character – their personalities, their past and their present –  through costume is one I love to be wrapped up in and pick apart, solving problems designing, assisting and making.

I particularly enjoy bright colours, interesting prints and unusual twists, and take any invitation to a fancy dress party very seriously.
